Hi! On a table beside the dining area. It isn’t a separate studio. At first I thought I could pack everything away each evening, but that lasted about three days.

I spent too long finding the same pieces again the next morning. Now I keep current jobs in separate boxes and leave the machine where it is. We eat at the other end of the table.

There was some grumbling, including from me. I liked the idea of a neat room. We tried different places for the boxes before finding a shelf everyone could live with.

Actually, harder. You walk past a hem and think it will only take five minutes. I’m better at writing down the next step and leaving it for tomorrow, though I don’t always manage it.

Putting the cover on the machine. It’s a small extra step to start again. Also, I’ve learned that sewing tired usually means unpicking it later.

Being able to ask someone to look at a tricky fit immediately. I can send a photo to a former colleague, but it isn’t quite the same as having someone beside the table.
